Tips for Stress Management


If you’re dealing with a lot of stress, it can help to have a few tips for stress management that you can keep in your mental toolbox.

Stress can be debilitating and lower your quality of life substantially. Managing it well can make all aspects of your life better.


Learn to say no.

One of the most important things you can do to manage your stress levels is to say no.

While you may want to help all the people in your life, attend every party, or go to every meeting at work you can’t always do it.

Instead of trying to juggle all of your activities and piling on more and more, it’s best to learn to say no.

It’s hard at first, but the more you do it the easier it gets. That doesn’t mean you have to say no to everything, but you can pick and choose the activities in your life.


Plan ahead.

Much stress comes from being unprepared for challenges as they come. But careful planning can help you to keep stress at bay.

For example, instead of getting to the end of a long day and wondering what you’re going to make for dinner, you can create a meal calendar for the week.

It sounds simple, but a meal planner can save you tons of time shopping at the store and deciding what to eat.

It can also save you a lot of money if it prevents you from eating out every night. This is just one example where planning ahead can help, but there are many others.

Make sure that you sit down with your calendar and if you have a partner or family you all sit together and discuss items. It’s critical that you know what’s going on for the week or month so you can plan ahead.

Balance your budget.

One of the major sources of stress for people is finances. Many people spend without thinking about needs versus wants.

It’s important to look at your income and expenses and trim where necessary. This can relieve a lot of the stress you feel.

Let go.
When you feel stress from things over which you have no control, there’s no way to relieve it.

One of the best things you can do is stop worrying about things that you can’t change and try to work on the things you can.

Take time for you.
Taking time out to do things that improve your health or help you to have fun can really help you to manage stress.

Carve out time for daily exercise, going out with friends, reading a great book, or all of the above.

When you feel fulfilled and healthy, stress is less of a factor in your wellbeing.

Implementing these tips for stress management will help you to get the most out of your life and avoid the pitfalls of a high stress lifestyle.
