How To Create An Effective Weight Loss Exercise Plan
Everyone knows that the key to losing weight comes down to eating healthy, low calorie foods and exercising on a regular basis. Many times, people will start on a diet but neglect to come up with a good weight loss exercise plan. They may have the best intentions to work out, but without a good plan to follow it is easy to let it fall by the wayside. Here are some tips to help you create an effective exercise plan to help you lose weight.
The key to making sure your weight loss exercise plan is effective and successful is to schedule your workouts times at convenient times and places for you. For example, some people find it hard to make it to the gym, so it is more effective to schedule times to exercise at home. Having convenient times set aside for exercise each week is another way to help ensure that the workouts do in fact happen. Schedule appointments with yourself each week that are devoted to exercise. Write down the specific locations and times on your calendar or day planner.
Your exercise plan should include both aerobic exercise and strength conditioning to meet your weight loss goals. In terms of aerobic exercise, there are many different activities that you can do, including walking, jogging, swimming, using a treadmill or elliptical machine, along with a whole host of other activities. Pick several of them that you enjoy or are interested in trying, and schedule about a half hour's worth of aerobic activity several times a week. For strength conditioning, you can choose free weights or use weight machines. You should also do some strength conditioning exercises several times a week, but do make sure to have rest days in between to allow your muscles and body time to recuperate.
Another important aspect of your weight loss exercise plan is to be sure to vary your routine. If you continue to perform the same exercises or the same amount of weight for too long, you will reach a plateau where your exercising isn't as effective. When you vary the exercises, number of repetitions and amount of weight, your body stays challenged and you are much more likely to see good results from your exercise plan.
Just as your diet won't be nearly as effective without exercise, your exercise plan also won't be as successful without eating a good healthy diet. So when you are creating your workout routines, make sure that you don't neglect taking your eating habits into consideration as well. You need to eat a well-balanced diet that contains plenty of vegetables, fruit, lean protein and fiber. Make sure to also drink plenty of water. This is especially important to do immediately before and after exercising to stay hydrated.
If you follow these simple tips, you will be able to come up with an effective exercise plan that will not only help you lose weight, but also get you fit and provide you with more energy. Make sure your plan is a written one to help ensure that you follow it on a weekly basis.
