How To Cope With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis isn’t just a garden variety pain - it’s an autoimmune disorder whose cause isn’t known. What is known is that Rheumatoid Arthritis can lead to permanent disability at any age.

You may think of arthritis as a disease of older people, but Rheumatoid Arthritis is found in younger adults and even in children.

So what can you do to keep from becoming disabled by Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Start with a nutritional consultation. You definitely need to make sure you’re eating a balanced diet with sufficient fish oils, antioxidants, zinc, selenium and Vitamins A-C-E.

These vitamins and minerals are believed to be essential in helping the body fight off the effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

If you’ve been eating foods high in animal fat, you need to drastically reduce those foods and replace them with coldwater fish for protein.

Certain fruits like blueberries, blackberries and cherries are dense in flavonoids, which are also beneficial in supporting your immune system.

You can also experiment with alternative therapies. Hypnosis and visualization are widely used for all types of pain management.

Learning hypnosis or visualization gives you a sense of control and the ability to deal with pain without taking drugs.

You can apply these techniques anywhere, anytime for relaxation and stress reduction.

Just knowing there’s something you can do to reduce pain lets you feel some sense of control with a disease that seems so out of control.

Although movement can be painful, some movements like yoga are very helpful for living with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Join a class or work individually with an experienced Yoga trainer who can show you the moves that are designed to improve the areas of your body where Rheumatoid Arthritis is most painful.

The gentle stretches of yoga improve joint flexibility. Still more effective alternative therapies are acupressure and massage. Scheduling weekly treatments is both therapeutic and relaxing.

Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis means changing the way you do things. You may have to let some household chores go or get help with them.

Cooking healthy foods is satisfying, but you may have to limit your four course Sunday dinners to a more reasonable option.

Trying to do too much and pushing yourself toward perfection is simply not worth the pain and stress.

Learning to ask for help can be one of the most difficult aspects of living with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

What You Need to Know about Managing Pain with C.B.D.

Managing pain is one of the most popular reasons for using CBD products. However, there is little clinical evidence to support such claims. A recent study provides some new insights and information.

Researchers at Syracuse University gave CBD oil or a placebo to a small group of young adults. They said the results were complex and exciting.

While they found the positive psychological effects they expected, they were also pleasantly surprised by the pharmacological and physical results too.

That’s important because how you experience pain involves both your physical and emotional responses. These findings suggest that CBC has some potential for providing both kinds of relief.

This may be welcome news if you’re interested in alternatives to drugs or surgery. Find out more about CBD and other natural methods for relieving pain.

Using This to Manage Pain:

1. Understand the effects.

CBD may help reduce pain in a variety of ways. It has antioxidant properties that decrease inflammation and analgesic effects that reduce pain sensations. It also has calming effects that can make discomfort more tolerable.

2. Set your goals.

Certain forms of CBD may be more effective depending on your symptoms. For example, topicals like creams and oils can be used for localized arthritis pain. On the other hand, oral products may be preferable for systemic autoimmune conditions.

3. Protect your lungs.

Keep in mind that vaping and smoking can be harmful to your lungs. Keep these issues in mind when deciding which types of CBD products you may want to try.

4. Start small.

Your doctor can help you calculate the appropriate dosage for you. In general, it’s preferable to start with a small amount and gradually work your way up if necessary.

5. Shop wisely.

Products are largely unregulated. You’re more likely to choose safe and effective products if you stick to reputable brands and look for third party certifications.

6. Experiment as needed.

Your results will probably vary with different forms and brands of CBD. Keep trying until you find what works for you.

7. Change your lifestyle.

You can make CBD products more effective by combining them with other healthy habits. Eat a nutritious diet, exercise regularly, and sleep well. Physical therapy can work wonders too.

8. Check state laws.

Products are legal at the federal level in many countries, but state laws vary. Ensure that you’re in compliance, especially if you’re traveling.

9. Stay updated.

Ask your doctor any questions you have about using products. The staff at CBD stores and medical marijuana dispensaries may also be helpful.

Other Natural Methods for Managing Pain:

1. Try acupuncture.

Multiple studies have shown that acupuncture may be helpful for a number of chronic pain conditions, as well as overall wellness. You may be more sensitive in some parts of your body, but the needles rarely hurt because they are so thin.

2. Take time daily to practice beneficial thought patterns.

Retraining your brain can make pain less unpleasant. You can teach yourself to retrain your brain with a book or an app or take a class at your local hospital or community center.

3. Stretch and move around.

The mental and physical health benefits of exercise can make it easier to cope with many conditions, including arthritis and low back pain.

Save any medical questions for your doctor but ask your teacher about how to modify exercises to make them more comfortable for you.

4. Use natural ingredients.

Ginger, turmeric, and essential oils are a few of the natural products that are often used for pain relief. Like CBD, many of these products are unregulated, so be cautious about any exaggerated claims.

Research on CBD is still limited, but likely to grow as the use of these products keeps increasing. Talk with your doctor about how you might include CBD and other natural pain relief methods in your treatment plan.
