Medifast was founded in 1980 and remains a favorite program amongst doctors because of their extensive clinical research. Medifast, like Jenny Craig relies on pre-packaged meals and meal substitutes.

On the Medifast program you eat or drink 5 meal substitutes and then you eat one calorie controlled meal of your choosing. Medifast has nine clinical studies as well as the results of those studies available on their website.
