Cycling’s Health Benefits and More

Cycling is one activity that is truly enjoying and fulfilling. I remember when I was a kid; I asked my dad to buy me a bicycle. Well, he didn’t buy the bike until I was 7. And those were one of the happiest days of my childhood – riding a bicycle and touring the neighborhood.

I have grown to love this activity and I even bought a second hand mountain bike. Thus, I am very surprised that there are many health benefits that can be derived from cycling. Imagine, I am already enjoying and at the same time I am improving my health.

Cycling is a form of exercise as well. Thus, cycling everyday means I am exerting effort to maintain a good health. Cycling is one of the popular cardio training or exercises. Thus, with cycling, I am improving the condition of my heart wherein the supply of the blood increases as well as the heart rate. For that reason, the possibility of having heart diseases is being reduced as well. In addition to that, the risk of having high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes is being lowered or even prevented.

Cycling is also a good form to slash out those excess fats. With cycling, vast amount of calories are being burned thus helping in the process of weight loss. Hmmm. I think that is the reason why most cyclists are lean.

When you are cycling, you use your mind, body, arms, legs and eyes all of the same time. Therefore, when we are cycling, we are improving our body coordination as well as strengthening the different muscles on our arms and legs. That is very good since even as we grow older, we can still feel its effects and there is lesser probability that we will have a hip fracture.

Do you know that cycling can also improve the mood of people? I am really happy to hear that since there are times that I am having some mood swings. Now I know which activities will help me to have a positive outlook or mood. I have learned that endorphin is being released as we went cycling. This endorphin is the one responsible in causing or giving us pleasure.

Aside from the pleasure given by cycling, it is also one of the activities to release our stress, depression, and anxiety. Thus, riding a bike will definitely give a positive aura to the rider.

Aside from the health benefits of cycling, there are other benefits that we can get from, this activity. With cycling, we can have the opportunity to earn new friends, to see different places, to be close with nature and the environment and to help reduce the air pollution. Bicycles can be a good mode of transportation, thus will save a lot of money.
