Binaural beats are something unfamiliar to most people by name, but it’s something studies have shown to be effective in improving both your emotional state and your cognitive state.
You can find readymade binaural beats that are meant to alleviate stress, generate happiness and even sharpen your mind. As you listen to binaural beats, it’s said to put you in a meditative state.
This isn’t something outside of your control – just a creative ways to deepen your consciousness and help you focus and tune out the chaos around you. There have been many studies that prove that when people are assigned a task of listening to about 20 minutes of binaural beats, such as rainforest sounds where the binaural beats aren’t noticeable, mood is improved.
This is a wonderful self-administered form of therapy, but there are some counselors who use this with their clients and patients to help them with anxiousness or stress. The reason this is effective is that it’s all done without you having to be aware of the process – it’s a subconscious benefit.
The binaural beats stimulate your brain with sound waves and frequencies. Your mind is constantly being affected by a wide range of frequencies you don’t hear, but they have some impact on how stressed or how relaxed you may feel.
Now you can go onto YouTube and find thousands of binaural beat videos that you can listen to. Binaural beats aren’t going to damage your brain in any way. They’re even safe for kids to use.
When you decide to listen to binaural beats, you’ll want to choose a frequency that works best for you. Studies have shown that increased theta frequencies are best for stress reduction.
Try to find or create beats in the 4-8 Hz range. This will not only help you relax, but it will help you sleep and be more creative, too. When listening, don’t blast the volume. A low sound where you can just feel the beat of the music is fine.
If you don’t find readymade binaural beats that you like, make your own! If you have the audio tools to do it, like Gnaural (a binaural beats audio generator) you can create sound waves and alter the frequencies. You can create a track that’s as short or as long as you want it to be and export it so you can listen anytime you want.
