There is a study out that shows orchestra conductors live an average of seven and a half years longer than the average person. Have some fun - go through the motions of conducting an orchestra. Do this for at least 10 minutes a day, or 20 minutes 3 days a week.

If you want, conduct to some music. You can use a chopstick or ruler if you don't have a baton. Throw yourself into this exercise, physically and emotionally. (Note: Check with your doctor if you have a history of heart problems)

A sweet suggestion - eat two teaspoons of raw honey a day, either in a glass of water, or right off the spoon. Many nutritionists feel this is the best tonic for strengthening the heart, as well as for general physical repair.

Hate to go to the gym? Some feel the best exercise and the perfect body stimulator is an old-fashioned walk, a brisk walk, daily. Brisk would be walking a mile every 20 minutes.

In a recent report by the New England Journal of Medicine, it was discovered in a long-term study of 72,000 women aged 40 to 65, the heart attack risk was reduced 30% to 40% for those who did at least three hours of brisk walking a week.

Women who walked briskly for five hours or more a week cut their heart attack risk by more than 40%. Housework and gardening are considered vigorous exercise.

Vitamin B15 quickens the healing of scar tissue around the heart and also limits the side effects of some heart medications. The suggested dosage is 150 mg a day along with a B-complex vitamin.

For people who have a history of heart problems, this remedy is recommended: Just before retiring for the night, take a ten minute foot-bath, stepping into calf-high water, as hot as you can take it.

As the water cools, add more hot water. After ten minutes, step out and dry your feet thoroughly, preferably with a rough towel.

Then massage them for one minute, making sure to manipulate the toes also. This exercise may help circulation, remove congestion around the heart and give you a peaceful night's sleep.

Hawthorn berries are supposed to have many benefits. After research, we now take hawthorn supplements daily. Hawthorn normalizes blood pressure by regulating heart action, improves heart valve defects.

It also helps people with a lot of stress, strengthens weakened heart muscle and prevents atherosclerosis. Check with your doctor for dosage.

Omega-3 fatty acids impact many factors linked to cardiovascular disease. They help lower LDL cholesterol levels and triglycerides, inhibit excessive platelet aggregation, lower fibrinogen levels and lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in individuals with high blood pressure.

You can find omega-3s in many foods, including salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish. The most cost effective and beneficial method for increasing the intake of omega-3 oils in the diet is flaxseed oil.

Eat wheat germ every day. Consider supplementing vitamin E - it is said to help reduce hardening of the arteries.

A garlic supplement protects and strengthens the heart and helps to thin the blood. Make sure to use garlic in cooking and eat it raw in salads.

Eat onions once a day. Russian scientists claim onions are beneficial for all kinds of heart problems.

Cayenne pepper is reputed to be the purest herbal stimulant. Try mixing 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a cup of water and drink it down. It is not easy to take, but it may be beneficial to the circulatory system.
