Preventive Maintenance for Smokers.

If you smoke, you already know you're not going to quit until you're darn good and ready. In the meantime, you know your health is at risk and you are going to suffer some ill effects.

There are ways to cope with the physical damage caused by cigarettes, however. We are not medically accredited and cannot advocate the use of any of these ideas for your own personal use. We present them as information only.

Many smokers are using carotene supplements. This substance is a vegetable form of Vitamin A and converts to Vitamin A in the body. Both carotene and Vitamin A provide protection for mucous membranes and all surfaces coming in contact with air.

Many diabetics cannot convert carotene to Vitamin A. There seems little difference in the action of the two substances, and a daily dose of 15,000 units of regular Vitamin A is probably as effective as a carotene supplement.

The amino acid cysteine is known to provide some tissue repair. It also protects against acetaldehyde, which causes lung tissue to age and scar. Vitamin C is an excellent complement to cysteine's action.

It is so vital in helping the body deal with smoke poisons that we burn about 25 mg for every cigarette smoked. If that is not replaced in the diet, the body will show signs elsewhere of Vitamin C deficiency, including most notably a premature wrinkling of the skin.

Cigarettes are also known to cause an increase in triglycerides or blood fats. Lecithin does an excellent job of keeping blood fats under control. Alcohol is not recommended for this job.

If you work in a smoky environment, and inexpensive air filter would be an excellent idea. It will filter smoke particles but not gases, so proper ventilation is another serious consideration.

Ionizers have been highly touted, but here is some concern that they may cause premature aging of tissues so we do not consider them beneficial to health.

Vitamin E is of course a supplement that should be given serious consideration. Not only has it been recommended as a preventative measure against cancer, but it seems to help prevent heart disease, another serious complication of smoking.

Starting doses above 200 units a day MUST be authorized by a doctor for safety and regular blood pressure checks are a must.

Healthy Smoothie Recipes Perfect to use with our convenient protein powder supplement to optimize your health!

MEXICAN SMOOTHIE
1 cup tomato juice
1/2 teaspoons chopped jalapeno pepper
1/4 teaspoons cayenne
1/4 cups chopped onion
1/2 cups chopped parsley
2 cloves garlic, peeled
Chop and blend all the ingredients together. Serve immediately.

NECTARINE SMOOTHIE
1 nectarine
6 ounces light (reduced sugar) fat‐free peach frozen yogurt
(this is one container of yoplait)
1/2 cups dole pineapple‐orange‐guava juice (comes in a carton)
1/2 cups crystal light or other sugar‐free lemonade
1 packet equal sweetener or. . . 2 teaspoons sugar if equal is not available
Put all ingredients into blender. Blend until smoothie consistency is reached!

OATMEAL FRUIT SMOOTHIE
1 cup soy milk
1/2 cups rolled oats
1 banana, broken into chunks
14 frozen strawberries
1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1‐1/2 teaspoons white sugar
In a blender, combine soy milk, oats, banana and strawberries. Add vanilla and sugar if desired. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.



What Are Antioxidants For The Body?

In recent years, antioxidants have gained in popularity, so much so that most people have at least a basic understanding of what they are and what they do.

Many doctors have talked about the different benefits that we can get from them.

Types of Antioxidants

On the basic level, antioxidants are substances that reduce and prevent the damages caused by the free radicals into the body.

But what are free radicals?

Antioxidant Versus The Dangers Of Free Radicals

In recent years there has been a lot of talk about free radicals and the health risks associated with them.

But the typical person does not have a clear understanding of what free radicals really are and exactly how they can damage the body. Nor do they understand that we now know how to combat this problem.

Let’s begin with the broad statement that studies have indicated that oxygen free radicals are a causative factor in an ever-expanding range of degenerative health concerns.

Perhaps the most talked about of these concerns include: heart disease, cancer, allergies, macular degeneration, arthritis, and premature aging.

It is important to note however that free radicals are sometimes created by the body’s immune system in an effort to neutralize viruses and bacteria, so obviously, they are not always bad.

But most sources of free radicals are outside the body, including unhealthy foods, cigarette smoke, and excessive alcohol consumption.

Stress is another causative agent of free radicals. Exposure to sun and pollutants can also introduce the elements into the body.

Antioxidants fight the oxidation (formation of further free radicals) process of the free radicals. But if there is an excessive amount of free radicals present the antioxidants may not be able to keep up.

When this happens the individual may not notice any signs or symptoms for quite some time, but eventually evidence of the problem will surface.

He/she will begin experiencing signs of premature aging and/or symptoms of any of a number of diseases.

In today’s era, most of the activities are being done with a computer. You research with a computer, you do online banking and online transactions, you can even control different machines with the use of computers and a lot more. ** Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.

** There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

** I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

** “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.

** Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time…
