What If YOU Were The One To Have A Stroke?


A stroke is basically when a blood vessel in your brain bursts. This is a very bad thing.

Often a stroke will cause damage to the brain that results in a person being paralyzed on one side of their body, often they cannot speak or even take care of themselves.

In these cases people often need to relearn things. That can be simple things through to the major motor skills, walking, using tools as simple as a knife and fork, sometimes people even need to learn to talk again.

This is a terrible thing when it happens to “people”. What would it mean if it happened to you, of someone you love. What does it mean when You cannot go to Your job, to make the income to support the family, to show your children the things you want to teach them?

Because strokes are fairly common and people understand them, and because they are actually so horrendous when they do happen, many of us just do not pay attention to them.

I’d like you to stop and think about that for a minute.

“I never expected it to happen to me” is not going to help after the event.

If you have high blood pressure you need to be talking with your doctor and developing a plan but you also need to be doing something about it yourself.

There are several things you can do to lower blood pressure.

One of them is to lose weight. The more weight you carry the harder your heart needs to work to pump blood around your body and the higher your blood pressure.

Another thing you can do is to get some regular exercise. How many times have we heard that and how much do we want to not hear it again! I feel like telling people to just Go Away.

The problem is that these things are easy to do and they are even easier Not To Do.

Maybe it is time to think about how we can put 20 min of walking into our regular day. Can we park 10 min from work and walk in and walk back afterwards. Can you leave the desk for 15 min and walk the post to the post office rather than having someone do it for you or jumping in the car to take it?

This sounds silly and almost a waste of effort but it may well be enough to pull you back from the edge. If you can avoid the blood pressure exploding your brain then it is worth the walk. Who knows, you may even enjoy it. When you get a little bit fitter you will certainly feel better within yourself.

The third thing you can do is to try and get your blood flowing more freely. Your doctor can give you blood thinners that will help your blood flow better but it will not deal with the underlying problem of your arteries being partially blocked.

Using Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids can be a great help in keeping your blood flowing. There are a number of sources of Omega 3 & 6 but deep sea, cold water, fish is generally considered to be the best source. These oils make the blood more slippery and that allows the blood to flow more freely.

That helps without thinning the blood so it is not contra-indicated to blood thinning medications (though it is always wise to check with your doctor before doing anything that may have an impact on any situation they are monitoring or treating). Best quality Omega 3’s will also strip the plaque out of the arteries and assist with hardening of the arteries if you take a reasonable dose level.

So here are 3 things you can do to assist your cardiovascular system, to ease your blood pressure, to lessen your risk of stroke and of heart attack.

It only takes a few small changes in what you do right now to drop your risk but if you let things go then “some people” could be You and the sympathy you give to the families of a stroke victim could be sympathy being given to your family. It really is a personal issue and each of us need to pay attention to it while we still have time to do something.
