Body Detox – Body Cleansing For Better Health


Whether it’s the food you eat or the air you breathe, you are certain to be taking something unhealthy into your body on a daily basis. The fact is that the environment we live in is overflowing with harmful and toxic substances – elements that we cannot completely avoid. And over the years these substances can take a toll on our bodies, slowly, but surely, the effects can be noticed.

Between fast food and processed food and the preservatives in the foods we purchase from the grocery store, we consume an enormous amount of chemicals and toxins that are not beneficial for us. As people have become aware of this the popularity of detoxification has grown. But many still wonder what exactly detoxification is and how it can benefit us.

As the name implies, detoxification is a method of removing toxins from the body. While the term has notoriously been used to denote detox of drugs and alcohol, nowadays the term detoxification is used to refer to the cleansing of the body for general health purposes.

A non-toxic lifestyle requires drinking lots of water and eating natural foods, including fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts. Additionally, junk food should be avoided and exercise should be a regular part of life. Many detox programs start with a two or three day fast for a quick cleansing, and most do this on the weekend so they can be at home, without the pressure of work to interfere.

Keep in mind that detoxification does not mean starvation. Although you may opt to start out by fast for 1 – 3 days, you should then begin eating a healthy diet. Eat natural foods, drink lots of fluids – especially water. Add foods rich in fiber to aid with having regular bowel movements. This lessens the likelihood of toxins building up and being absorbed into the body.

Get in touch with nature. This means you should get outdoors; go for walks, exercise outdoors, bird watch, hike, skate, etc. The fresh air is good for your lungs and your circulation.

The truth is that most of us have lots of contaminates in the air in our homes. This is the air that we breathe constantly. Getting outdoors into the fresh air is good for us in lots of ways.

Make your showers invigorating by adding skin brushing. This helps to detoxify your skin and results in a refreshed and renewed feeling. Rubbing your skin removes dead skin and it improves circulation – the revitalization adds a sense of revival to your skin.

Detoxify your mind of negative thoughts. Work on having a positive mindset. This is a great way to start and end a detoxification program. Your mind and body work together to make you who you are. By thinking positively you can help begin to detoxify your entire being.
